Compare flexible sun tunnel installation quotes in Leith
A useful quotation should explain the proposed work as well as its price. For flexible sun tunnel installation in Leith, submit one enquiry to hear from up to four independent specialists, subject to local availability.
A flexible sun tunnel uses a reflective concertina tube between the roof collector and ceiling diffuser. It can suit a short route with a modest offset, where a rigid assembly is difficult to position. The flexible tube must still be supported and fitted within its manufacturer’s length and bend limits.
Reasons to arrange an assessment in Leith
- A small hallway has a short roof-to-ceiling distance.
- Minor loft obstructions make a straight connection awkward.
- You want to compare a lower-cost flexible option with a rigid system.
What to ask the installer to include
- Confirm that the proposed flexible run is short enough for the selected product.
- Plan gentle curves around obstructions without crushing the tube or using unnecessary length.
- Weatherproof the roof opening with the correct collector and flashing kit.
- Attach and support the tube at both ends using the specified connections and seals.
- Complete the diffuser seal, reinstate insulation and clear cut materials from the room.
The corrugated lining and bends generally transmit less light than an equivalent smooth rigid route. A flexible system is not a solution for every long or complicated loft run. Compare the likely result as well as the initial cost.
What affects the quotation in Leith
The indicative service range is £400–£950. Use it as a starting allowance rather than a fixed local price. The route, materials and access arrangements affect the final figure. Confirm VAT, waste disposal and ceiling making-good before agreeing the work.
Checking the requirements for your home
Check property-specific requirements before work starts. Rules depend on the work and the UK nation, with additional considerations for listed buildings and protected areas. Contact The City of Edinburgh Council for guidance on your property. The Planning Portal provides an introduction for England. Routine repairs and alterations can have different requirements; avoid assuming every replacement is exempt.

Common questions about this service
For a home in Leith, is a flexible tube suitable for a long loft route?
Not necessarily. Flexible tubes have product-specific length limits and lose light through bends and their corrugated lining. Ask an installer whether a rigid system would perform better for the measured route.
What affects flexible sun tunnel installation costs in Leith?
The guide range is £400–£950. The actual price depends on the specification, roof condition, access and any additional finishing or repair work. Ask for a written quotation confirming VAT and exclusions.
Will I get four quotes for a property in Leith?
You may receive up to four quotations from independent specialists. The number depends on your postcode, the work requested and local installer availability.
Who can advise on permissions in Leith?
Ask The City of Edinburgh Council about the proposed work and your property. Requirements vary with the project, location and any protected status, so do not assume that every sun tunnel alteration is exempt.
