Compare sun tunnel installation quotes in Cornwall
A useful quotation should explain the proposed work as well as its price. For sun tunnel installation in Cornwall, submit one enquiry to hear from up to four independent specialists, subject to local availability.
A roof collector, reflective light tube and ceiling diffuser work together to bring daylight into a room below. This can suit a space beneath a loft or compatible flat roof, provided a survey finds a viable route and useful roof exposure.
Reasons to arrange an assessment in Cornwall
- A landing needs artificial light even on bright days.
- An internal WC or corridor has no external wall for a window.
- You want to assess a small roof opening before considering larger alterations.
What to ask the installer to include
- Survey the roof slope or flat roof and check the covering, daylight exposure and safe access.
- Measure the intended tube run and locate structural timbers, services and other obstructions.
- Specify a collector, compatible flashing, tube diameter and diffuser that suit the room and route.
- Protect surfaces and install the collector and tube without unauthorised structural changes.
- Seal joints and the ceiling connection, reinstate insulation and agree plastering, decorating and waste removal.
Daylight varies with the weather and time of day. A sun tunnel does not provide a view or normally open for fresh air, and ordinary electric lighting is still needed after dark.
What affects the quotation in Cornwall
The indicative service range is £500–£1,400. Use it as a starting allowance rather than a fixed local price. The route, materials and access arrangements affect the final figure. Confirm VAT, waste disposal and ceiling making-good before agreeing the work.
Checking the requirements for your home
Check property-specific requirements before work starts. Rules depend on the work and the UK nation, with additional considerations for listed buildings and protected areas. Contact Cornwall Council for guidance on your property. The Planning Portal provides an introduction for England. Routine repairs and alterations can have different requirements; avoid assuming every replacement is exempt.
